When Kerrie-Ann Jones and her partner acquired this household on a subdivided block in Sydney’s Sutherland Shire, it still retained a lot of of its primary retro functions.
‘It was in unique problem, complete with silver disco wallpaper for the dining space, yellow and kitchen, and a cobalt blue toilet,’ says Kerrie-Ann.
As magnificent as the retro details were, most of the interior was rotten with h2o harm, this means Kerrie-Ann experienced to strip practically all of it back again to fundamental principles. ‘I designed the interiors with bespoke particulars, like curved edges for the kitchen island, rangehood and fireplace,’ Kerrie-Ann clarifies.
‘It’s texture-wealthy with products this sort of as the walnut veneer in the kitchen area and the use of several stone materials in the kitchen, residing space fireplace and bathroom’ she elaobrates. ‘I like to layer textures nonetheless continue to be in just a heat neutral colour palette. I have curated our residence to be layered, with a combine of vintage and present-day household furniture and artwork gathered in excess of the decades.’
The end result of this very careful, textured layering is the palladiana-design mosaic flooring in the bathroom, built from massive marble offcuts.
‘I experienced the concept about a few years in the past. I have witnessed it finished on a modest scale but rarely working with big items,’ suggests Kerrie-Ann. ‘It took 6 months to discover a tiler and stoner polisher who was keen to do the work!’
But so fully well worth it! We’d go so much as to say it’s the pièce de résistance in this dreamy loved ones pad!
