Hello! I hope you’ve had a great week. Mine has been pretty good and I’m exciting to be hosting a ladies tea party today with my two nieces and adorable grand-niece (who is 5-1/2). I’ve been baking and planning tea sandwiches and table settings all week.
Meanwhile, in this week’s edition of The Saturday List, I am sharing some fabulous properties recently (or currently) on the market as well as an update on the restoration of Notre Dame in Paris; movie directors taking on rooms at The Met; and a piece of movie magic.
Brooke and Steve Giannetti’s Patina Farm in Ojai, CA was on the market for a minute and sold likely quite fast! This amazing property was designed by architect Steve and designer/blogger Brooke creating a new home that felt old. A place where California Spanish style meets Belgian chic. Plus ducks and goats.
A vision of serenity, isn’t it? There’s a book available too:
And from a new home seeking to look old, we have one of the oldest homes in the US – the Daniel Lummus house in Ipswich, MA. From the Churchill Properties real estate listing: “The Daniel Lummus house, circa 1686, is a beautiful and livable antique home where no detail has been overlooked. Lovingly restored/preserved by the current owners, it retains historic elements while adding modern conveniences, an updated roof, windows, and all mechanical systems.” Read more here at The New York Post.
The great British historian Lucy Worsley takes us on a behind the scenes tour of the restoration of Notre Dame in Paris. I sat in abject horror watching this amazing place burn three years ago. I’ve been to Mass at Notre Dame and lit candles in pray. I feel so deeply connected to this place that is both historic landmark and place of worship.
How 9 Directors Are Transforming the Met’s Period Rooms for “In America: An Anthology of Fashion” in Vogue. Nine directors have been “tasked with transforming 13 period rooms of the museum’s American Wing to display a history of American fashion from the late 18th century to the late 20th century for “In America: An Anthology of Fashion,” part two of the Costume Institute’s comprehensive survey of American fashion.” The directors include Sophia Coppola, Radha Blank, Janicza Bravo, Autumn de Wilde, Julie Dash, Tom Ford, Regina King, Martin Scorsese, and Chloé Zhao.
The Saturday List – Silver Screen Surroundings
Get a little piece of authentic Silver Screen Surroundings. From the 1st Dibs Auction listing: “The sculptural table Bangles ‘House of Gucci’ was chosen by Ridley Scott for his film ‘HOUSE OF GUCCI’ starring Lady Gaga, Al Pacino, Jeremy Irons, Adam Driver, Salma Hayek, Jared Leto. Ridley Scott personally expressed the desire to lacquer the tabletop in glossy Gucci orange. The table, a unique piece, was used in two important scenes which were filmed in the center of Rome, Italy. The table was handmade in mirror polished stainless steel and has the following dimensions: 350 x 120 cm (137.8” x 47.24”).”
That’s a pretty spectacular desk or dining table isn’t it? Bidding lasts for the next 5 days through May 12th.
